This site was created on a computer with an Intel processor, running Windows 98 SE © primarily, and secondarily on a computer with an Intel processor running Windows 95 © . All software listed is for the Windows platform unless otherwise specified, and most of these have only been used here on Windows 98. Below are some useful links. Unfortunately, since this site has no control over any other site, use all software at your own risk, and always check for viruses!
HTML Editors help you to write web pages. The ones listed here all are free, and all require that you understand how web pages are written. To the best of my ability, I have looked at every freeware and most shareware HTML Editors available, and these are the ones I think are worth checking out.
| The primary writing of this site was done with 1st Page 2000 - a truly amazing program for free. 1st page has the most built-in help of these editors. It suffers from some annoying but non-critical bugs. The developer appears to be not actively supporting the program, but it has a large following and active newsgroups. | |
| Top Dawg is a well done free HTML editor with a simpler and cleaner interface than 1st Page. Top Dawg also doesn't have any obvious bugs. It has a good FTP program included too. | |

HTML-Kit is highly flexible, customizable, and feature rich. HTML-Kit is being actively developed, and does have support. It is also complex to install, and has no included help file. |

ZPaint was used to create some objects that were previously seen on this site. It is a limited function graphics program, but duplicating the effect with a full featured graphics program would be a long task. |

Metapad is a small, fast, and free text editor and notepad replacement. A website can be and probably has been written in it, but this webmaster uses it for the many manipulations of pure text data needed in working on web pages. Again, your webmaster has downloaded and evaluated many of these programs, and considers metapad clearly the best. |

Xenu Link Sleuth is the only link checker that anyone running less than a major corporation website would need. It is a superb program. |
